About Us
Family First Academy exists to serve the families of Hapeville, Georgia and the surrounding areas in providing academically-excellent, biblically-based education.
Our Story
Family First Academy was born out of a long-standing legacy of faith, service, and love for children in the Hapeville and tri-cities community.
Hapeville First Baptist Church was founded in 1884 with a heart for serving others from the very first day its doors opened. In its early years, the church provided a home for orphans from the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. That same spirit of care and community has continued for more than 140 years through faithful ministry and family-focused events such as our annual Trunk or Treat and the beloved Live Nativity Market.
For the past seven years, Gateway Christian Academy called Hapeville First Baptist home, providing quality Christian education to families throughout the tri-cities area. When Gateway Christian Academy closed its doors in May 2026, our church felt a clear calling to continue serving families by stepping fully into Christian education.
In August 2026, Family First Academy opened as the next chapter of that commitment. We are a private Christian school dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual formation, and creating a family-centered environment where every child is loved and pointed toward Christ.
Leadership
Under the pastoral leadership of Barry Odom, Pastor of Hapeville First Baptist Church, and the operational leadership of Cana Odom, Director of Operations, Family First Academy continues the church’s mission to strengthen families and raise up the next generation in the truth of God’s Word.
We are excited to welcome families who desire a Christ-centered education, strong character development, and genuine community. At Family First Academy, we don’t just educate students. We partner with families to build a foundation for life.
